Final Hours to Vote for Oak Forest Family to Win Free Car

Just months after their daughter battled cancer, the Ferralez family faces losing their car. Find out how you can help.

An Oak Forest family is just one step away from winning a much-needed car from Homewood Chevrolet, and they need your help.

The Ferralez family are just one round of public voting away from winning a free Chevy Sonic, part of the dealership’s Homewood Chevy Cares contest. Dealership owner Steve Phillips was feeling particularly generous this summer and sought to gift a family in need with new wheels this holiday season. Five finalists remain.

“We want to give back to a family in need who needs a new start,” said owner Steve Phillips.

Dawn and Ramon Ferralez’ daughter Joselyn spent months battling Stage 2 aggressive non-Hodgkins Burkitt’s lymphoma, and while she has recently entered remission, the family has been experiencing tough financial times.

“Unfortunately we are about to lose our car due to non-payment. Not that we didn’t want to pay, we just had more pressing issues that took us away from our jobs,” Dawn wrote on the contest website. “...we are finally back to work full time but will need to turn over our car shortly. The funds we have raised saved our home but not our car.
