Water Rate Hike Begins Soon in Oak Forest

Water bills will increase in Oak Forest beginning on May 1.

OAK FOREST, IL - The city of Oak Forest will raise its water and sewer rates beginning on May 1. The increase comes after a two-year rate freeze and a rate increase from the city's suppliers: the city of Chicago and village of Oak Lawn. According to a news release from the city of Oak Forest, here are the specifics behind the increase.

The water rates will increase from $8.05 per 1,000 gallons to $8.38 per 1,000 gallons for the first 25,000 gallons used (Tier 1), and from $9.05 per 1,000 gallons to $9.42 per 1,000 gallons for usage above 25,000 gallons (Tier 2). The quarterly water base fee will remain $15. The sewer rate will increase from $1.77 per 1,000 gallons to $1.88 per 1,000 gallons.
