What's the Unemployment Rate in Your City?

Unemployment rates fell for the ninth consecutive month in all 12 metro areas, as well as in all 102 counties for the sixth time in seven months.

But the newly appointed director of the Illinois Department of Employment Security, former state Rep. Jeff Mays, left out the overtly positive spin his predecessor, Jay Rowell, often used to reiterate Pat Quinn’s message that the improving job market was proof Illinois is making a comeback.

While it’s still a positive sign, many areas of the state continue to struggle with high unemployment numbers.
