1 Shot At Chicago Ridge Mall, Several In Custody: Police

Chicago Ridge police say there is no active shooter threat and the shooting is believed to be an isolated incident.

CHICAGO RIDGE, IL — Gunfire rang out Saturday evening at Chicago Ridge Mall, resulting in one person being shot. All of the people involved are identified or in custody, or being treated for injuries.

“We can confirm that it is not an active shooter situation.” said Chief Jim Jarolimek, of the Chicago Ridge Police Department.

The shooting unfolded Saturday near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance at approximately 7 p.m. In a video shared by Arab Chicagofb taken inside Kohl’s, shouting could be heard outside the store and then what sounded like gunshots. People could be seen running into Kohl’s and then exiting the mall.

One person suffered a gunshot wound, however, it is not believed to be a life threatening at this time, Jarolimek said.

The investigation remains ongoing. More information will be shared when it becomes available.
