OAK LAWN, IL — Two men were arrested after they captured on security video breaking the windows of a convenience store during a weekend of unrest following George Floyd protests, reports said.

Trammel Worley, 23, of Chicago Heights, and Timothy Pettigrew, 22, of Chicago were each charged with burglary and criminal damage to property. Worley was charged with an additional felony count of forgery.

Around 9:10 p.m. May 31, Oak Lawn police responded to a burglary alarm at Foodie’s Food Store, 9623 S. Pulaski Road. On their way to the scene, the dispatcher said there were two men, later identified as Worley and Pettigrew, trying to break the front store window, reports said. The pair were allegedly grabbing stuff from the store.

When an Evergreen Park police officer arrived at the store, he said the men were fleeing toward 98th Street in an Audi later determined to be registered to Worley. A few moments later, a 911 caller said two men were jumping a fence in the 4000 block of West 98th Street. The two men were spotted walking hastily through an apartment complex parking lot, reports said.

Oak Lawn police set up a perimeter around the area and moments later, reports said the men were spotted again in front of Foodie’s who took off when they saw the police.Accoding to the report, Pettigrew was apprehended in front of the store while Worley was taken into custody on Karlov Avenue.

Pettigrew acknowledged that he was on the video, but did not answer any more questions. Trammel was charged with misdemeanor obstruction of justice. When searching Trammel, police said they found a counterfeit one-hundred dollar bill in Trammel’s pocket.

No court information was included in the police report.
