26 Taken To Hospital After Tent Collapses During Employee Appreciation Event

Cintas, which makes uniforms and corporate apparel, was hosting an event for its workers in Bedford Park when the tent collapsed.

BEDFORD PARK, IL — A tent collapse left 26 people injured Thursday at a company's employee appreciation event in Bedford Park, according to police.

Officers responded around 10:45 a.m. to assist the Bedford Park Fire Department at the parking lot of the Cintas Design Collective facility in the 5600 West block of 73rd Street, police said. Cintas makes uniforms and corporate apparel.

Of the 26 patients transported to hospitals by local and surrounding agencies, five were in serious condition, according to police. Among the injured parties were Cintas employees, according to the company.

"The health and safety of our employee-partners is our number one priority," Cintas said in a statement. "We are cooperating with local officials to determine the cause of the incident. Cintas will continue to monitor the situation and do everything we can to assist our employee-partners during this time."

The cause of the collapse was under investigation Thursday, according to police.
