301 Seat Belt Tickets Issued In Oak Lawn Memorial Day Campaign
Oak Lawn police issued a total of 312 citations during Memorial Day safety campaign.
OAK LAWN, IL -- Oak Lawn police issued an astonishing 301 seat belt citations between May 10 and May 28, along with 4 DUIs. The special enforcement highlighted the importance of seatbelt use during the annual Click It or Ticket Memorial Day seatbelt campaign.
According to the BuckleUpIllinois, seatbelt use in Illinois is 95%, but unbelted occupants disproportionately account for more than half of those killed in traffic crashes. The goal of Click It or Ticket is to change the behavior of the millions of people who still don’t buckle up.
