Oak Lawn Cops Issue 507 Seat Belt Citations During Labor Day Enforcement

OAK LAWN, IL—A record-breaking 507 seatbelt citations were issued during the Oak Lawn Police Department’s Labor Day safety campaign, with 273 occurring during nighttime hours. Special attention was paid to unbuckled drivers during the enforcement campaign from mid-August through the early morning hours of Sept. 8.

Other citations and arrests included:

• 23 child safety seat violations
• 33 other citations including; vehicle equipment violations
• 1 traffic arrest for no driver’s license

Oak Lawn Police Department collaborated with other law enforcement agencies and highway safety partners across the state for the Illinois Labor Day “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,” “Drive High. Get a DUI” and “Click It Or Ticket.” The initiatives were made possible by federal highway safety funds through the Illinois Department of Transportation.
