85 Traffic Citations Issued By Oak Lawn Police During Super Bowl Weekend

Oak Lawn police issued 85 tickets, including 71 seat belt violations over Super Bowl weekend.

OAK LAWN, IL — It wasn’t a very celebratory Super Bowl for the motorists who forgot to fasten their seat belts, caught speeding, or were a New England Patriots fan. Enforcement focused on impaired driving involving alcohol, cannabis and other drugs during the Oak Lawn Police Department's Super Bowl enforcement campaign.

Oak Lawn police issued 71 seat belt citations covering the period of Feb 6 through the early morning hours of Feb. 9. Officers also wrote four speeding tickets and ten citations for vehicle equipment violations.

“Motorists should understand that we are serious about cracking down on impaired drivers and seat belt and other traffic safety law violators. We do it to save lives,” said Lt. Nick Kumke, of the Oak Lawn Police Department. “Whether it’s alcohol, cannabis or other drugs, impaired driving puts everyone at risk.”
