Burbank police have released images and a video clip showing a gray sedan sought in a hit and run that killed a 9-year-old boy.
BURBANK, IL -- The Burbank Police Department has released surveillance images and a video clip of a vehicle believed to have been involved in a hit-and-run accident that killed a 9-year-old boy and seriously injured his mother and sister as they crossed Cicero Avenue on Saturday evening. In an investigation described as “ever evolving,” Burbank police with the assistance of the Southwest Suburban Major Crimes Task Force and Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a gray, 4-door sedan.
The Chicago boy died of his injuries at Advocate Christ Medical Center early Sunday morning. The boy, his 29-year-old mother and a younger sibling were walking westbound across Cicero Avenue at 86th Street around 9:45 p.m. Saturday, June 16. Evidence recovered shows a gray car traveling southbound in the middle lane striking all three pedestrians as they attempted to cross Cicero Avenue. The mother and younger sibling are in stable condition.
Burbank police said the suspected vehicle fled the scene and was last seen traveling westbound on 87th Street from Cicero Avenue. The car should have some front end damage. Police have released surveillance images of the gray car and a video clip. Another vehicle of interest is a full-sized white SUV with vanity or personalized plates. Police would like to interview the driver of the white SUV as they believe the driver may have witnessed the accident.
