82-Year-Old Woman Fatally Struck By Minivan Crossing 95th Street

A pedestrian fatally struck by vehicle in Oak Lawn has been identified as an 82-year-old Chicago woman.

OAK LAWN, IL — The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office has identified a pedestrian fatally struck by a vehicle Tuesday afternoon as Frankie Willis, 82, of Chicago. Oak Lawn police said the elderly pedestrian had been trying to cross 95th Street,

Around 3:20 p.m., Oak Lawn police said a preliminary investigation showed that a woman driving a brown Toyota minivan was turning south from Kostner Avenue onto westbound 95th Street when she struck the Chicago woman in the road. The pedestrian was pinned under the vehicle. Oak Lawn firefighters freed the pedestrian and was transported to Advocate Aurora Christ Medical Center where she was pronounced dead at 3:49 p.m.

The Oak Lawn Police Department Traffic Unit is investigating the accident. The driver of the minivan is cooperating.
