A Moment of Silence

Kolmar Avenue School thanks all of the first responders across the country, throughout Illinois and here in the Oak Lawn and Hometown communities for the important work that they do each day to keep us safe.

On Wednesday, September 11th, Kolmar Avenue Elementary continued their tradition and raised the American flag and 9/11 commemoration flag to half-mast in honor of those who lost their lives on 9/11/2001.  The following is a passage from Kolmar Avenue Elementary School Principal, Mr. David Creech, as he began the ceremony.

“Good morning, students, teachers, support staff and parents. It is a pleasure to welcome you to this year’s Patriot Day commemoration ceremony.

Kolmar Avenue School would like to thank all of those first responders across the country, throughout Illinois and here in the Oak Lawn and Hometown communities for the important work that they do each day to keep us safe.

At this time, we would like to introduce two of our 5th grade students - Patrick Gal and Jakob DeFosset.  They will help raise the American flag and 9/11 commemoration flag.

If you would please join me for a moment of silence to remember those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.

At this time I would like to ask that you join me in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Please join Mrs. Glikis and the chorus as they lead us in our national anthem.

We appreciate you being here with us this morning to remember this important day.  I look forward to having you back with us again next year.”
