Advocate Christ Medical Center earns fifth Magnet designation

Advocate Christ Medical Center recently attained its fifth Magnet recognition, a testament to its continued dedication to high-quality nursing practice. The American Nurses Credentialing Center's Magnet Recognition Program® distinguishes health care organizations that meet rigorous standards for nursing excellence. This credential is the highest honor and gold standard for professional nursing practice and excellence. Receiving Magnet recognition is a great achievement for Christ as it proudly belongs to the global community of Magnet-recognized organizations. Just 45 hospitals in Illinois have achieved Magnet.

This achievement reflects our commitment to delivering the highest quality of care to this community,” said Giancarlo Lyle-Edrosolo, chief nursing officer at Advocate Christ Medical Center. “This credential underscores the values that drive our nurses and teammates every day.”

Research demonstrates that Magnet recognition provides specific benefits to health care organizations and their communities, such as

• Higher patient satisfaction with nurse communication, availability of help and receipt of discharge information
• Lower risk of 30-day mortality and lower failure to rescue rates
• Higher job satisfaction among nurses
• Lower nurse reports of intentions to leave their positions

In awarding Christ with the re-designation, the ANCC praised the team for several areas of success, noting high nurse satisfaction scores, a program to swiftly treat cardiac patients, low rates of patient falls with injury, low surgical error rates and the level of involvement nurses and other teammates have in their communities. The organization also recognized Christ’s achievement in earning Magnet five consecutive times.
