The Advocate Christ Medical Center Neuroscience Institute team recently hosted a Wellness in the Woods Stroke Education Session at Swallow Cliff Woods, located near Palos Park.

The team of volunteers, that included physicians, APCs, community health, stroke coordinators and nurses, shared with 500 hikers and stair climbers stroke risk factors, signs, symptoms and what Advocate Christ’s Comprehensive Stroke Center designation means for the community.

The comprehensive stroke center designation is the highest level stroke center certification awarded and means Advocate Christ has a comprehensive system for rapid diagnosis and treatment of stroke patients admitted to the emergency department.
