All District 218 schools earn 'Commendable' designation
State Board of Education recognizes Eisenhower, Richards, and Shepard

The Illinois State Board of Education has honored all three Community High School District 218 comprehensive schools with the designation of "Commendable" on the annual state report card. This is the second highest rating, only below "Exemplary."
District 218 includes Eisenhower High School in Blue Island, Richards High School in Oak Lawn, and Shepard High School in Palos Heights.
Criteria for the "Commendable" designation include:

- A school that has no underperforming student groups;
- A graduation rate greater than 67 percent, and;
- Performance not in the top 10 percent of schools statewide.
Student groups used in the calculations include major racial and ethnic identities, students with Individual Education Plans (special education), English language learners, and students from low-income families.
