A woman with eight prior convictions for retail theft walked out of a Walmart store with a purse full of miscellaneous merchandise, prosecutors said.
Challyn Gmeinder, 47, was charged with one felony count of retail theft.

According to the charges, Gmeinder was observed filling her purse with $104 worth of merchandise on March 20, then walking out of the Walmart store at 10240 S. Harlem Ave., Bridgeview.
The assistant public defender told the judge that Gmeinder had problems with diabetes. She had recently moved to Crestview.

Gmeinder has another pending retail theft charge out of Skokie. She has four misdemeanor and four felony convictions for retail theft, prosecutors said.
Bail was set at $100,000. Gmeinder is due back in court April 11 in Bridgeview.
