Alleged Credit Card Mule Paid $40 to Deliver Fake Credit Cards: Prosecutor
Chicago man told cops he "knew a guy" with an illegal credit card printer, prosector said.

A 28-year-old Chicago man was arrested after police found 19 fictitious credit cards in his trunk during a traffic stop, prosecutors said.
According to the charges, Oak Lawn police stopped Jeffrey Higgins around 2:12 a.m. April 3 for traffic violations. The officer detected an odor of cannabis as he approached Higgins’ vehicle.
The officer recovered a sealed FedEx envelope from Higgins trunk. When the officer opened the envelope, there were 19 fake Visa and Master cards inside, the prosecutor said.

Higgins allegedly told police he “knew a guy” with a card printer who made illegal credit cards. He was paid $40 to deliver the envelope.
“So he was the mule,” Cook County Judge Peter Felice said.

The assistant public defender told the judge that the envelope was closed and opened by the cops.
Higgins was released on a $25,000 I bond. He was also ordered to submit to random drug testing.
Higgins is due back in court May 2 in Bridgeview.
