Alsip Woman Charged With Hate Crime After Video Shows Her Yelling Racial Slur at Black Couple

Jessica Sanders was allegedly caught hurling racist insults at a black couple during a Margarita Festival in Chicago over the summer.

CHICAGO, IL - The woman caught on video yelling a racial slur at a black couple over the summer at the city’s Margarita Festival has been charged with a hate crime several months later.

Jessica Sanders, 26, of Alsip was charged on a warrant for hate crime and battery last week in connection with the racist tirade that has been viewed several thousand times on YouTube, according to a DNAinfo Chicago report.

The video posted in late July showed a woman, allegedly Sanders, use the word several times in confronting a black couple over the use of bean bags that were out in the open during the Margarita Festival held at the South Shore Cultural Center.

The 54-second clip starts with the woman smacking the camera out of Ernest’s hands. When he picks it up, the woman can be seen yelling the slur several times.

Be advised the following video contains offensive language.

Two people with the woman, both black, were nearby and unfazed by the verbal assault.

“It don’t bother us,” one said.

During the confrontation, Ernest was heard asking the woman what would happen if he hit her.

"You're a guy. If you hit me you're a n-----," she replied.

Just before the video ends, she spits at the couple.

Sanders appeared in court on Friday wearing a bright blue Chicago Cubs jacket, according to DNAinfo. Before her arrest, she was already on supervision for a disorderly conduct conviction in which racial slurs were used against a police officer.

Sanders is free after posting 10 percent of a $50,000 bond, ABC-7-Chicago reports.
