OAK LAWN, IL— A 30-year-old Oak Lawn man was arrested Tuesday by Chicago police and the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force.
Jaquell Hayes was taken into custody in the 9700 block of South Pulaski Road, near his residence. Police said Hayes was identified as the suspect who shot and seriously injured a 31-year-old convenience store employee on March 13 in the 100 block of West Adams.
The Oak Lawn man is said to have entered the Loop convenience store, where he began taking merchandise off the shelves. When he was confronted outside the store by the employee, police said he opened fire on the man, who was critically injured. Hayes is alleged to have fled the scene after the confrontation.
Hayes has been charged with attempted murder. He was due Thursday in court for a detention hearing at the Leighton Criminal Courthouse.
