OAK LAWN-CHICAGO RIDGE, IL—An 18-year-old man was taken into custody Tuesday at the scene of a burglary targeting an ATM inside the video gaming terminal area at a restaurant, police said. Jermone Baker, of Calumet City, is facing felony burglary and theft charges in Chicago Ridge and Oak Lawn.

Around 4:30 a.m., Oak Lawn police responded to a burglar alarm at Hog Wild Restaurant, 4040 W. 111th St. Officers discovered a broken glass door and saw that a burglary had occurred. Three vehicles with multiple people were observed on security video pulling up to the restaurant and ransacking the inside. The crew was captured on security video breaking into the ATM inside the video gaming terminal.

The ATM was damaged, and the purported burglars left abruptly, police said.

About a half-hour later, Chicago Ridge police were dispatched to Rosa’s Pizza Restaurant and Gaming, 9909 S. Harlem Ave. for a “glass break and motion” burglar alarm. When officers arrived, two vehicles were parked near the business, and another vehicle was backed up to the front of Rosa’s. Police said multiple people were trying to remove the ATM from the business.

The group scattered in one of the vehicles. Another man, later identified as Baker, was trying to take off in a vehicle, then fled on foot. Chicago Ridge police quickly apprehended him.

Officers also found three guns with extended magazines in Baker’s vehicle. One of the guns had a “switch” turning it into a machine gun.

The vehicles observed at Rosa’s were also seen at Hog Wild minutes before. Baker was charged with burglary and theft by Chicago Ridge police and burglary for the Oak Lawn incident. The Cook County State’s Attorney approved the felony charges.

Baker is due back in court May 1 at the Bridgeview Courthouse.
