OAK LAWN, IL—Oak Lawn is mourning the loss of Brother Rice High School graduate Patrick Michael Noonan, who died unexpectedly July 18. The 17-year-old had just graduated in May.

Patrick grew up in Oak Lawn, where he attended St. Catherine of Alexandria School. He enrolled in Brother Rice High School, where he was a peer mentor and Kairos leader. He played football throughout high school, where he was known as a tough competitor and an even greater teammate and friend.

“Patrick was a Crusader through and through … Patrick’s impact was felt in all aspects of our school,” Brother Rice said in a statement. “He loved his friends deeply and will be forever remembered as the type of person who would always help his friends.”

Patrick was a member of the Crusaders football team that brought home its first IHSA 7A championship in 44 years this past fall.

“A tremendous young man that had an electric personality,” said his football coach Casey Quedenfeld. “Patrick Noonan defined our BRotherhood in the halls and on the field. He was beloved by his teammates and coaches alike. You will be missed but never forgotten.”

Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School, Brother Rice’s next door neighbor, also expressed its condolences on its Facebook page.

“Our hearts are with the Noonan family and Brother Rice community as they mourn the loss of Patrick Noonan '26. We join in prayer for Patrick's family, friends, classmates, teammates and all who knew and loved him. May he rest in eternal peace.”

Visitation will take place from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 23, with a 10 a.m. Mass set for Friday, July 24, both at St. Catherine of Alexandria Church, 10621 S. Kedvale Ave., Oak Lawn. Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Alsip. Arrangements are by Beverly Ridge Funeral Home.
