OAK LAWN, IL—Celebrate with family, friends and neighbors for National Night Out, Tuesday, Aug. 4. The free, take-a-bite-out-of-crime event kicks off from 6 to 8 p.m. on the Oak Lawn Village Green, 9446 S. Raymond Ave., east of village hall.
Also, time has been set aside where adults and children with sensory sensitivities can enjoy the event from 5:30 to 6 p.m.
Oak Lawn's finest and bravest are suiting up to offer a fun evening of public safety events, featuring food, police and fire vehicle displays, balloon twisters, and face painting. A dunk tank, which seems all the rage lately, is also included where residents can try to dunk an officer or firefighter.
Entertainment will be provided by Gincy. Kids should bring a bag because there will be many free giveaways.
Since the first National Night Out in 1984, more than 38 million neighbors in 17,000 communities throughout the nation will hold some type of event promoting community building and public safety. It's a night to build police-community partnerships and strengthen neighborhood spirit.
