OAK LAWN, IL—The Oak Lawn Community High School Board of Education has appointed Kelli Evans to fill a vacant seat on the school board.
Evans' term begins immediately and will run through the April 6, 2027, consolidated election. She fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Dr. Kenneth Yerkes in June.
Evans and her husband, Bryant, are the parents of two children who attend District 123 schools. As a District 123 parent, Kelli brings a strong personal connection to the school and a genuine interest in the educational experiences of local students. Her perspective as both a parent and community member will be a valuable addition to the board.
"As a parent and community member, making sure that every student feels supported, safe, and prepared for their future is something I sincerely care about," Evans said.
She shared her enthusiasm for serving the community.
"Oak Lawn Community High School serves as the most important center for learning in our community," Evans said. "It prepares students for future careers, college, and gives them tools to be productive community members after high school."
Evans was sworn in by D229 board president Rob Loehr, who said he and his fellow board members were excited to welcome her.
Dist. 229 Supt. Shahe Bagdasarian also expressed his enthusiasm.
"Our Board of Education and administration look forward to working closely with Kelli as we continue our shared commitment to supporting our students, staff, families, and community," he said.
