Angelo's Leathers and Furs: Keeping Oak Lawn Residents Warm for Over 20 Years
Long time Oak Lawn business believes a fur coat is not a luxury; it's an investment. And a warm one at that.
Convinced a fur coat is a luxury outside of your financial reach? That’s the wrong way to think about it, says Angelo Koutras, owner and president of Angelo’s Leathers & Furs in Oak Lawn.
“You have to think of it as an investment. With the proper care and maintenance, a fur coat can last a lifetime. It’s an heirloom that can be passed down to other generations,” says Koutras.
Koutras should know—he’s been in the fur industry for over forty years, first in his native country of Greece, and later with furriers in the Chicagoland area.

His namesake store has been a 95th Street fixture since the late 1980s. At 12,500 square feet, it is easily one of the biggest retail spaces devoted to furs in the country, according to Koutras.
Angelo’s Leathers & Furs offers a great selection of leather jackets, shearlings and furs in different styles, lengths, colors and more importantly, price points.

“I have a coat for every age, taste and budget,” said Koutras, purchasing large quantities wholesale in order to give his customers the best retail price. “There is no other place where you can buy a coat—quality leathers made in Italy and New York, quality sheepskins make in Italy, or full-skin furs at prices no one else can sell right now. It’s never been a better time to invest in a fur coat.”
And when temperatures drop down to below zero during winter--Chicagoland weather forecasters are predicting this year is going to be a brutal one--you’ll be glad you did.
