According to the report, someone removed a screen from the first window and discarded it on the ground. The glass storm window was pushed up and the interior glass pane was then lifted or pried open, splitting the sash. The prowler was unable to get the window open past six inches due to security screws.

The homeowner told police the second and third windows also had their screens removed and were opened.
