Argument Inside Hooters Escalated Into Shootout Outside Restaurant: Cops

OAK LAWN, IL — Two groups who exchanged words as they were leaving an Oak Lawn restaurant escalated into a gunfight Monday evening.

Oak Lawn police responded to shots being fired around 8:58 p.m. at Hooters, 9159 S. Cicero Ave. The investigation revealed that two groups of male Hispanics became involved in a verbal altercation inside of the restaurant, police said in a news release.

As the two groups exchanged words leaving the restaurant, police said one group fired on the second group as they were exiting the restaurant. The second group returned fire, and both groups continued shooting at each other as they fled the area in separate vehicles.

No injuries were reported. This is an active investigation. Oak Lawn police will be releasing no more information at this time.
