Armed Robber Shoots Restaurant Manager With Rubber Slug: Cops

Crestwood, IL -- Crestwood police are warning business owners to be vigilant after a robber shot a Crestwood restaurant manager with a rubber slug during an armed robbery late Monday evening.

According to police, a man entered the IHOP at 4821 Cal Sag Road around 9:53 p.m. armed with a 12-gauge shotgun while his accomplice waited outside in the car.

The robber and his getaway driver got away with cash and loaded Glock 26 handgun. Both were last seen fleeing the area northbound on Cicero Avenue in a dark gray Mustang, police said.

Witnesses described the offender who robbed the restaurant as an African American male, 5-feet-10-inches tall and weighing 175 pounds. He was wearing black jeans, black bandana, black shirt and a black hat.

The driver was also described as an African American male.

Police said the two got away with cash and a loaded Glock 26 handgun.

Business owners are asked to make each other aware of the robbery and be alert.
