Armed Robber Steals Man's Money At Gunpoint: Police

OAK LAWN, IL -- An outbreak of crime in the area culminated with an armed robbery late Tuesday evening in Oak Lawn. The robbery happened around 10:15 p.m. at Southwest Highway and Cicero Avenue. At least two other robberies were reported in Burbank and Chicago earlier in the day, but Oak Lawn police don’t think they’re related, although the investigation is ongoing.

Oak Lawn police were dispatched to the 4700 block of Southwest Highway. The person robbed told police he was approached by a male black wearing a bandana that covered his face. The alleged robbery was described a 5-feet-8-inches with a thin build and short hair. He was wearing jeans and a white shirt.

According to a police news release, the purported robber displayed a black semiautomatic handgun and demanded the man’s money. Taken was cash and other personal property. Police are asking that anyone with information to contact the Oak Lawn Police Department at 708-422-8292.

Earlier in the day, two people and were robbed and pistol whipped in separate incidents in Burbank and Chicago. A man also reported his car being shot at in Evergreen Park.
