Attention Old Spartans: Class of 1973 Plans 50-Year Reunion

The Oak Lawn Community High School class of 1973 will be holding its 50-year reunion Sept. 9 at Johnson-Phelps VFW. Tickets on sale now.

OAK LAWN, IL — In 1973, Secretariat won the Triple Crown, “American Graffiti” premiered, the 108-floor Sears Tower was completed in May holding the title as the tallest building in the world for the next 25 years, Billie Jean King handily beat Bobby Riggs in the “Battle of the Sixes” tennis match, gas was 39-cents a gallon, and “Tie A Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree” was the number one song.

The class of 1973 will be marking 50 years since they walked the halls of Oak Lawn Community High School on Saturday, Sept. 9. The Spartans will gather from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the Johnson-Phelps VFW Post, 9514 S. 52nd Ave., Oak Lawn.

The reunion is $65 per person and includes a sit-down dinner, four-hour premium open bar, music by DJ Mike, dancing and lots of fun.

There is limited seating at the venue, so all you old Spartans are advised to order now. Tickets will be sold on a first come, first served basis until sold out or until Aug. 1. If you didn’t get the reunion committee’s email, check your spam folder.
