An Oak Lawn registered sex offender who went missing in November turned up in a hospital emergency room where he was being treated for leg pain, reports said.

Oak Lawn police were dispatched to Advocate Christ Medical Center at 4440 W. 95th St. around 8:15 p.m. Feb. 6 to assist a citizen.

Upon their arrival, a nurse told officers that Stephen Haddad, 61, whose last known address was 9513 S. Ridgeland Ave. in Oak Lawn, had been transferred to the hospital the day before by the Burbank Fire Department.

According to the report, the nurse had been advised by Haddad’s doctor and a hospital social worker that Haddad was a registered sex offender.

When the nurse spoke to Haddad’s friend to arrange for his discharge, the friend told the nurse that Haddad was living at her residence in the 6700 block of West 87th St., which did not match the Oak Lawn address in Haddad’s medical file, police said.

Knowing this to be a possible violation of his sex offender registration the nurse notified police, reports said.

According to the Illinois Sex Offender Registry, Haddad was 52 years old when he was convicted on child pornography charges and deemed a sexual predator. His victim was 15 at the time of the offense.

As a sexual predator, Haddad is required by law to register every 90 days with the Oak Lawn Police Department, reports said.

Haddad’s last known registration was in August 2014. Police said that Haddad failed to register with Oak Lawn police as required in November 2014 and the state sex offender registry listed him as “location unknown.”

Haddad allegedly told the officers that he was living in Burbank, but was unable to provide an exact address.

After he was discharged from the hospital Haddad was taken into custody and transferred to the Oak Lawn police station. Police said he refused to answer questions.

The Cook County State’s Attorney’s office approved a felony charge for unlawful failure to register as a sex offender.

Haddad is currently being held at Cook County Jail in lieu of $70,000 bail. He is due back in court on Feb 25.
