Back To School: Oak Lawn-Hometown Dist. 123 School Calendar 2022-23
The first day of school for Dist. 123 students is Aug. 17. Here's all the dates you need to know for the 2022-2023 school year.
OAK LAWN, IL — Back-to-school planning has already begun in Oak Lawn-Hometown Dist. 123 for the 2022-2023 academic school year, with calendars available to help parents prepare their children for a smooth transition into the new school year.
The first day of school for Dist. 123 students is Wednesday, Aug. 17, and will be a half day from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Some dates are subject to change during the school year. We also suggest that you check the Dist. 123 calendar and your child’s school calendar (Hometown, Covington, Hannum, Sward and Oak Lawn-Hometown Middle School) for conferences, open houses, meetings, exams, early dismissals, athletic and other school events.

Here is the list of dates to know for Oak Lawn-Hometown Dist.123 this school year:
- The school year will start with two days of staff institutes; August 15th and 16th.
- The first day of student attendance will be Wednesday, August 17 and will be a half day from 8:30-11:30 am.
- There will be no school on Oct. 10 for Columbus Day.
- Fall Family Conferences will take place on October 13 & 14.
- No School on November 8 for Election Day.
- Students will be out of school November 21-25 for the Thanksgiving Holiday.
- Winter break begins Friday, December 23 at 3:20 pm and students will return Monday, January 9, 2023 at 8:30 a.m.
- Students will be out of school on Jan. 16 for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
- There will be no school an Feb. 20 for President's Day.
- Spring Family Conferences will take place on February 23 & 24.
- School won't be in session on March 6 for Casimir Pulaski Day.
- Spring break will start on March 27 and students will return on April 3 at 8:30 am.
- School will not be in session on April 7 and April 10.
- School will not be in session on May 29 for Memorial Day.
- The last scheduled student attendance day is June 2, 2023 from 8:30am to 11:30 am.
- However, given the unpredictable nature of Illinois weather, there are five emergency days scheduled for June 5-9, 2023.
