Bank Teller Wanted for Misappropriating Funds from Elderly Couple's Account: Cops
Oak Lawn detective said teller accessed couple's account using their state ID.

OAK LAWN, IL -- Oak Lawn police are looking for a bank teller who allegedly misappropriated funds from an elderly couple’s account.
An arrest warrant was issued for 35-year-old Fred J. Cross on a charge of aggravated identify theft. The detective told the judge that Cross was a bank teller at Fifth Third Bank, 9400 S. Cicero Ave., Oak Lawn.
Cross allegedly used the couple’s government-issued ID to access their bank account 44 times. In May, he siphoned money three times from the couple’s account in increments of $6,000 each, the detective said.

The wife noticed the withdrawals from her bank statement and filed a police report. The bank covered the $18,000 loss to the couple, who are both in their eighties.
The detective said he tried several times to contact Cross. They’ve gone to his residence but he is estranged from some family members, the detective said.

Police have also left several phone messages for Cross but he hasn’t called them back..
Cook County Judge Peter Felice issued an arrest warrant for $18,000. The detective said after the hearing that Cross is no longer employed by the bank.
