Barber Leads Cops in Car Chase After Controlled Drug Buy: Prosecutor

Cops chase barber through Chicago Ridge after he sold heroin to confidential source, prosecutor said.

CHICAGO RIDGE, IL -- Police arrested a Chicago barber after he was observed selling heroin to a confidential source and then led undercover cops on a wild chase through Chicago Ridge, prosecutors said.

Renard Tillman, 38, appeared before Cook County Judge Donald Havis on charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent and aggravated fleeing and eluding.

The prosecutor said police set up a deal between Tillman and a confidential source on Feb. 7. After the purchase was completed, police followed Tillman with their lights activated.

Tillman allegedly took at a high rate of speed.. During the chase to 115th Street and Depot, police said disobeyed stop signs, where he was seen tossing six baggies out the window. Tillman tried to make a u-turn near 111th and Depot where he hit a curb, the prosecutor said.

The prosecutor said that police surrounded Tillman’s car but he refused to get out. Finally, officers had to pull him out of the vehicle.

Tillman has three prior felony drug convictions, the prosecutor said.

The assistant public defender told the judge that Tillman has been a barber for 17 years.

Bail was set at $200,000. Tillman is due back in court March 7 in Bridgeview.
