Barricade Situation Ends Peacefully in Burbank: Police
A man armed with an air gun barricaded himself inside a Burbank home for several hours last Friday, police said.
BURBANK, IL — A man said to be armed barricaded himself inside a Burbank residence for several hours on Friday evening. Burbank police called the incident a “domestic situation.” Charges have not been filed but the incident is still under investigation. No injuries were reported.
Around 5:30 p.m. Feb. 7, police responded to a domestic disturbance in the 8500 block of Nottingham Avenue. The family told police that a male family member was experiencing a “psychotic episode” and was threatening other family members with a gun, police said. The adult family members exited the residence safely and called 911 for help.
When officers arrived, police said the man threatened to barricade himself inside the house and refused to exit or cooperate with police. The South Suburban Emergency Response Team was activated, and officers from surrounding communities arrived to help with the situation.

After several hours of negotiation, police said the man finally exited the home. He was taken to an area hospital for an evaluation. Burbank police executed a search warrant and recovered a Crosman .177-caliber air rifle, a canister of pellets and a tactical knife all presumably owned by the man, police said. No other weapons were found and no one else was inside the residence.
