Rabid Bat Found In Oak Lawn, Residents Urged To Vaccinate Pets
An Oak Lawn bat found in the 9800 block of South Pulaski Road has tested positive for rabies. Residents are urged to vaccinate their pets.
OAK LAWN, IL—A bat found in Oak Lawn has tested positive for rabies, Cook County officials said.
The bat was found in the 9800 block of South Pulaski Road. It is not known if the bat was found inside a building or outside, or if anyone was bitten.
The bat was submitted for examination to the Illinois State Public Health Laboratory where the bat was determined to be rabid.

Residents are asked to make sure their pets are up to date on current vaccinations. Animal and Rabies Control of Cook County is offering a series of free rabies and microchip clinics through the fall.
If your animal does not have a current rabies vaccination, have the pet immediately inoculated with a rabies vaccine. To find a clinic, visit ARC.
