BEDS Plus Issues Statement on Recent Shelter Incident

BEDS Plus Care Executive Director Tina Rounds issued a brief statement in response to the recent incident at a BEDS emergency overnight shelter taking place at Trinity Lutheran Church in Oak Lawn. “We strive to ensure the safety of our shelter staff and clientele, and we regret these unfortunate events. We've been following up with the volunteer, who remains happy and healthy. Shelter staff acted appropriately; Oak Lawn law enforcement moved quickly and responsibly; and the individual has been banned from our shelters.” She adds, “Although incidents like this are jarring, they are also incredibly rare. Our shelters run smoothly almost every night of the year.”
