Benefit on May 7 for State Trooper Major Mike Witt
Richards High School graduate, member of St. Linus Parish

Friends and family have organized a benefit to support the family of Richards High School graduate and Illinois State Trooper Major Mike Witt, who suffered a catastrophic injury in August 2020.
Paralyzed below his neck, Mike -- the husband of Richards teacher Megan Witt -- has persevered through an extremely difficult rehabilitation.
Proceeds from the benefit on May 7 at 115 Bourbon Street will assist with the spiraling costs associated with caring for someone with an injury like Mike’s.

He began his career with the Illinois State Police in March 1997 and was assigned as a Trooper to District Chicago. Over the course of almost 25 years, Mike built an incredible career with the ISP serving as a Special Agent, a Sergeant, and a Master Sergeant in the ISP Division of Internal Investigations.
He then went on to earn the role as Lieutenant for District Chicago Operations. Most recently, Mike served as Captain for the Division of Criminal Investigations before being promoted to Major and taking the position of Northern Illinois Investigative Commander. Mike is a natural leader and has always been a trusted asset of the ISP.
