Big Man Davion Lawrence Buzzer-Beater Gives OL Spartans Road Win
Oak Lawn Community High School's Davion Lawrence leads the Spartans in both scoring and rebounding. Makes game-winning shot against Tinley.

OAK LAWN, IL — With just seven seconds remaining and trailing by one point in the game at Tinley Park Tuesday night, the Oak Lawn Community High School boys basketball team had just one chance left for a road win. It took three perfect passes down the court and a short jump shot from Davion Lawrence at the buzzer to seal the deal. The Spartans walked away with a thrilling 65-64 South Suburban Conference victory.
In the win at Tinley, he was 5-for-5 from the free-throw line to go along with the game-winning shot. Lawrence has emerged as an alpha on the team, as he leads the Spartans in both scoring and rebounding. He is averaging 13.7 points per game and 8.3 boards. He is shooting an impressive 54 percent from the field and 72 percent at the free-throw line. Lawrence is adding 2.5 assists a game as well.
“He is a very good and willing passer out of the post, which makes our team more difficult to guard,” said head coach Jason Rhodes. “We’re very proud of the development he has made already this year and look forward to his continued improvement this season.”
