Blue Angels visit Richards

U.S. Navy flight performance team at Chicago Air and Water Show this weekend!

Despite a demanding schedule this coming weekend, members of the Blue Angels found time today to speak to a packed Performing Arts Center at Richards High School.

After leaving Richards the Blue Angels will prepare for their performance at the Chicago Air and Water Show, one of 32 festivals where they appear throughout the year.

Commander John Fey and Chief Petty Officer Libby Nguyen shared stories of their time with the famous U.S. Navy flight performance team. But they seemed more intent on finding ways to inspire Richards students.

They spoke of the privilege they feel of the opportunities to serve with the Blue Angels.

“We’re lucky to work in an environment of caring people who strive for excellence each day,” Fey said. “Find a place where you feel the same. Find your tribe.”

He compared the camaraderie and spirit of the Blue Angels to the NFL teams who advance to the Super Bowl.

“The season starts with 32 teams, but the special ones who care for one another and work together best, the tribes, they’re the ones who play for a championship,” he added.
