Boyfriend Charged With Strangling Girlfriend's Sister

Justice police said boyfriend put his hands around woman's neck and choked her during family argument.

A 23-year-old Justice man was arrested after police said he choked his girlfriend’s sister during a family argument.

Anthony Whitehead appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on a charge of strangulation.

Prosecutors said that Whitehead and his girlfriend’s sister were arguing about his mistreatment of her young daughter.

According to the charges, Whitehead grabbed the woman’s neck and began choking her in front of her child. She didn’t pass out but she couldn’t breath.

Police said there were visible marks around the woman’s neck.

The assistant public defender told the judge that Whitehead and his girlfriend shared the apartment with his girlfriend’s sister and her two young children.

“That’s the worst kind of domestic abuse,” Judge Felice said. “That’s the ultimate act, choking someone aside from shooting and stabbing.”

Prosecutors said that Whitehead had no prior criminal background.

The judge set bail at $30,000. He also ordered Whitehead to be on electronic home monitoring and to have no contact with his sister’s girlfriend or her children.

“Don’t go home until they move out,” Judge Felice said.
