Boyfriend Smashes Girlfriend's Window with Patio Furniture: Prosecutor

Prosecutor said man had dating relationship with woman when he smashed her window with patio furniture.

OAK LAWN, IL -- A Justice man who took a cab to his girlfriend’s home in Bridgeview was arrested after he busted her family’s sliding glass window, prosecutors said.

Jesse Nevarez, 24, appeared before Cook County Judge John Gallagher on charges of criminal damage to property. The prosecutor said Nevarez had been in a dating relationship with the homeowner’s daughter.

According to police, Nevarez took a cab from a bar to the home around 3:49 a.m. on April 23. The prosecutor said Nevarez smashed the sliding glass window with the homeowner’s own patio furniture. Then he took a cab home where police were waiting.

The assistant public defender told the judge that Nevarez was supposed to start a new job this week. Nevarez’s bail was set at $30,000. He’s due back in court May 9 in Bridgeview.
