Business is Booming in Oak Lawn

Great Places ,Great Food

For the last couple of years I have been waiting for Oak Lawn to have some new restaurants and speciality food stores Last year the village welcomed two new establishments which I think will be successful for years to come.

When of last year, I was so happy just to have someone working in the dilapidated Checkers building which was vacant for at least 3 years. I went in out of curiosity and found the owners Pete and Carol Vithoulkas to be genuinely funny and engaging. Their food is excellent not really fast food but a hybrid. Everything is made to order from scratch.Their customer service is excellent they make you feel like a visitor to their home. They are very creative with their dishes the Fatso dog and burger were featured on "Chicago's Best" on CLTV in December not bad for a place only opened 3 months. They have authentic Greek dishes and soups which being Greek I can vouch for. I hope they are successful for not only themselves but Oak Lawn also. The more thriving a business community is the better for the residents and tax base for the city.

Back in December, in the old Baja Sol building across the street from the Oak Lawn Library.Tom's restaurant was relocated from Orland Park to Oak Lawn due to Orland razing the strip mall where Tom's restaurant was and basically kicking Tom out. Well Orland's loss is Oak Lawn's gain. Stacked is one of Oak Lawn's best success stories so far, business is fantastic and they have a great location with plenty of parking. Stacked is a breakfast and lunch operation open from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily The food is absolutely out of this world, the breakfast menu has all the favorites, and the pancakes are awesome. The lunch menu is equally good with many sandwiches, salads, and wraps to choose from. The soups are excellent especially the egg- lemon soup which is  a staple in any Greek household and Stacked is as authentic as it gets, once again being Greek helps in that review!!

The service is attentive and pleasant Tom is always on the floor greeting customers and getting to know them personally. It is those little touches that can make or break a business. I am so glad Oak Lawn has Fatso's and Stacked among the other great establishments in Oak Lawn  I wish them success because they truly are very good people and in the end it good business for them and Oak Lawn
