The Illinois Peripheral Neuropathy Support Group was launched in March 2012 and aims to educate and raise awareness of the sometimes disabling symptoms of peripheral neuropathy a common side effect of diabetes or chemotherapy treatments for cancer.
Neuropathy symptoms include, pain (sometimes a knife stabbing pain), tingling (pins and needles sensation), burning, numbness, loss of balance and coordination quite commonly in the feet or hands, but the symptoms can occur in the whole body also. Often the symptoms appear at night but it is not uncommon for them to be constant. There is no cure for neuropathy only management of the symptoms.

Drs Roberto Segura and Edgardo Rodriguez of the Chicago Peripheral Nerve along with patient Jenny Gill are hosting a support group which meets monthly. For further information on the support group, please visit www.ipnsg.com
