Resistance Coming to the South Side

As a native of Chicago's south side, I am excited about Resistance Pro Wrestling holding an event on my old stomping ground.

I am very excited to be returning to my south side roots as Resistance Pro Wrestling makes its’ south side debut.  R Pro’s first ever south side event is “Stay Hungry” at 115 Bourbon Street in Merrionette Park on January 18.

I grew up a few miles east, in an area called Veterans Park.  I moved to the north side after college, but my parents remained there until recently.  I will always have a soft spot in my heart for the south side.

I first heard of Resistance Pro in August of 2011 at Wizard World, a pop culture convention.  Since then, I have attended almost all of their monthly events, have interviewed most of the roster and am fortunate to have made many new friends with the R Pro family.  I guess I have become part of the R Pro extended family.

At “Stay Hungry,” my past collides with my present.  I have been praising R Pro to all of my old south side friends.  With R Pro coming to their area, they will be able to experience the fun for themselves, not just vicariously through me.

The R Pro shows are consistently excellent.  Great wrestling, interesting wrestlers and lively crowds make for a fantastic night of fun.  Many times, you will see wrestlers from other companies there just to be in on the action.

The regular standout R Pro wrestlers will be there.  Heavyweight champ, “The Ego” Robert Anthony will be in action.  Women’s champ Melanie Cruise will be battling wrestling superstar Amazing Kong in what will be a battle.  Mr. 450, Lonesome Jay Bradley, Jocephus Brody, Ashton Vuitton, Eric St. Vaughn, Nikki St. John and the rest of the R Pro roster will be in action, along with superstar Matt Hardy, whose opponent has yet to be named.

If that isn’t enough, Smashing Pumpkins lead man and R Pro’s Creative Director Billy Corgan will also be there.  How much excitement can the south side take?

As much as I want my south side friends to enjoy R Pro live, I want R Pro to see how awesome the south side is.  Need I remind anyone that back in the day, the south side area was a wrestling hot bed?  I know that passion is still there.

“Stay Hungry” is less than two weeks away and I cannot wait.  South side, Johngy is coming home and I am bringing Resistance Pro Wrestling with me!
