The Positive Change We Need Now - In Simple Black and White

Dear Residents of Oak Lawn:

Tomorrow, on April 9th, you can end the fighting that has crippled our Village and bring about the positive change that Oak Lawn deserves.  Your vote is critical to putting Oak Lawn back on the right path.

My plan and promise for Oak Lawn involves comprehensive ethics reform, a commitment to safety and a dedication to fairness, positive growth and the values that made Oak Lawn great.  It was developed after listening extensively to what residents want and expect from their Village Government. 

Dr. Bury’s Plan for Comprehensive Ethics Reform:

• I will put an end to the rigged bids, back room deals and sweetheart contracts that end up costing you more money.
• I support term limits and the elimination of pension benefits for Mayor and Trustees.
• I will limit campaign contributions from Village vendors to elected officials.
• I will mandate ethics training for all elected officials and department heads.

Dr. Bury’s Commitment to Safety

• I will expand the Gang Crimes Unit and implement a School Security Program.
• I will do more than talk about crime.  I will ACT to revoke the licenses of establishments that attract criminal and gang activity.
• I will target vacant homes and buildings that attract gangs.
• I will donate my Liquor Commissioner salary to the Police Department.
• I will pursue regional partnerships to target and prevent gang crimes.

Dr. Bury’s Dedication to Fairness, Values, and Positive Growth

• I will be sure that everyone will pay their FAIR SHARE for Village services, including Advocate Christ Medical Center.
• I will STOP the influx of massage parlors and gambling cafes into our family oriented community.
• I will STOP the divisiveness and infighting with collaboration and teamwork.
• I will make sure that your tax dollars will be managed wisely and I will drive economic growth using my experience as a successful local business owner.

There have been comments made by my opponent that one must have political experience to lead this community.  I could not disagree more.  It is the career politicians who have gotten us into this mess  - as a country, a state and a Village. 

I am uniquely qualified as a successful business owner and long time community volunteer to  bring about the ethics reform and positive change Oak Lawn needs right now.  My leadership experience in my community, my professional association and several charities is substantial and positive.  I will fight for residents and advocate for Oak Lawn at every opportunity with energy, passion and enthusiasm for our future.

On day one I will begin implementing these changes which will put Oak Lawn back on the right path again.  Your Village Government should be working for you and not special interests. Our government must be “by the people and for the people”, not “by career politicians for career politicians”. 

I pledge to always put Oak Lawn First and bring about the positive change you deserve.  I humbly ask you to vote tomorrow for Dr. Sandra Bury for Mayor of Oak Lawn.  Thank you.
