Brannigan Will Face Lipinski in 3rd District Congressional Matchup
Suburban business owner wins her GOP primary contest.
Sharon Brannigan secured more than 60 percent of the vote Tuesday night, winning the right to challenge Democratic U.S. Rep. Dan Lipinski for the 3rd Congressional District seat.
Brannigan secured 17,497 votes to 10,402 for Diane M. Harris in the Republican primary, with 95 percent of precincts tallied Tuesday night.
Brannigan is a Palos Township trustee and she and her husband own a flower shop in Orland Park, where they've been in business for 30 years. Lipinski, of Western Springs, has served in Congress since 2005.
