Ongoing Power Outages Shut Down Bridgeview, Markham Courthouses

CHICAGO—Due to severe weather, courthouses remain closed because of ongoing power outages. The Bridgeview Courthouse, Markham Courthouse, and Branch Courts 35 and 38, located at 727 E. 111th St., Chicago, are closed Friday, June 12. All incarcerated defendants at Branch 35 and 38 may appear via Zoom from 26th and California.

The Circuit Court of Cook County has issued temporary procedures for matters scheduled to be heard Friday to protect public safety and ensure essential court operations continue.

If you have a traffic or misdemeanor hearing scheduled for Friday, June 12, at the Bridgeview Courthouse, your case has been continued to July 23.

For other matters at the Fifth Municipal District Courthouse in Bridgeview:

  • All criminal cases scheduled for initial appearance and EM violations of conditions of release will be heard at the Leighton Criminal Courthouse, located at 2600 S. California Ave., Chicago.
  • Felony preliminary hearings will be continued to June 18, 2026.
  • All other felony matters will be continued to June 25.
  • All traffic and misdemeanor matters will be continued to July 23, 2026.
  • Initial appearances in domestic violence matters will be heard at the Leighton Criminal Courthouse, located at 2600 S. California Ave., Chicago.
  • New petitions for emergency civil protective orders will be heard at the Domestic Violence Courthouse, located at 555 W. Harrison St., Chicago, IL.
  • Civil Orders of Protection return matters will be continued to July 1.
  • All other domestic violence matters will be continued to July 10, 2026.
  • Civil continuances will be issued by court order by the judge presiding in the case.

For matters at the Sixth Municipal District in Markham:

  • All criminal cases scheduled for initial appearance and EM violations of conditions of release will be heard at the Leighton Criminal Courthouse, located at 2600 S. California Ave., Chicago.
  • Felony preliminary hearings will be continued to June 22.
  • All other felony matters will be continued to June 26.
  • All traffic and misdemeanor matters will be continued to July 23. 
  • Initial appearances in domestic violence matters will be heard at the Leighton Criminal Courthouse, located at 2600 S. California Ave., Chicago.
  • New petitions for emergency civil protective orders will be heard at the Domestic Violence Courthouse, located at 555 W. Harrison St., Chicago.
