Bucket Drummer Wanted for Headbutting Cop: Police

Officer was writing man a citation for panhandling and drumming buckets when he got headbutted, police said.

Police are looking for a bucket drummer who they claim eluded arrest by headbutting an officer.

Bedford Park police said they had stopped 19-year-old Kevin Smith for drumming buckets and panhandling in the 7600 block of South Cicero Avenue on March. 23.

Police testified in court that officer had just finished writing a citation and was handing it to Smith, when the bucket drummer headbutted him, police said.

Smith ran across Cicero Avenue into the Ford City Mall and disappeared. The officer suffered bruising and a scraped knee, police said.

The officer was able to identify Smith from a photo array, who is out on bond and on probation on drug charges, according to police.

Police have tried to reach him by phone with no luck.

Smith is being sought on charges for battery and resisting arrest. The judge issued an arrest warrant with a $15,000 bench warrant.
