Bulldogs fifth in state

Best finish ever for Richards bowling

The varsity boys bowling team from Richards High School placed fifth at the IHSA state finals on Saturday to close the best season in program history.

In addition to their best performance at a state finals the Bulldogs placed higher than any other team from the south suburbs this year.

Season highlights also included winning the championship at three different invitationals, the South Suburban Conference Red Division tournament, and the IHSA Regional. Richards advanced to state by taking second place at sectionals.

Team members competing at state included Blake Attig, Josh Barr, John Englund, Danny LaBonte, Matt LaBonte, Nick Schopper, Dominic Stahulak, and Owen Szarley.

Teacher Kari Vanderjack serves as head coach and teacher Brad Wright as assistant coach.
