Bulldogs win Brother Rice invitational

Unbeaten in dual play, Richards wins third tournament this season.

The varsity boys bowling team from Richards High School won first place at the Brother Rice tournament over the weekend. The Bulldogs, unbeaten in dual matches, now have won three invitationals this season.

Blake Attig, Matt LaBonte, and Danny LaBonte led the way.

Blake shot the high game (279) and high series (1445 - 240 average) en route to winning the individual tournament championship. Matt took third place (1352 - high game 266) and Danny LaBonte (1258 - high game 264) took 11th.

Strong performances from Junior Nick Schopper (1170 - high game 243) and Senior Owen Szarley (1125 - high game 236) helped secure the team victory. The Junior Varsity squad was lead by team MVP Junior John Englund (1132 - high game 246).

Richards closes the regular season with two away matches at Reavis on January 7 and at Lemont on January 8 before the SSC Red tournament at Elmar Bowl on Saturday January 11.
